8th National Composition Competition

The Ankara State Conservatory Alumni Association (ADK-DER) will organize the 8th edition of the “Composition Competition for Instrumental Performance” this year.
The work selected as the First Prize Winner by the Jury will be designated as the compulsory piece to be performed by the contestants of the “3rd International Suna Kan Violin Competition”, which will take place between 17–21 October 2026.
The principal aim of our Association is to enhance the sensitivity of institutions, organizations, and individuals who value art, and to contribute to the promotion and support of polyphonic music.
REGULATIONS
1) Conditions of Participation
a) The competition is national in scope and open exclusively to citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, with no age limit.
b) Jury members and their first-degree relatives are not eligible to participate.
c) Submitted works must not have been previously published, performed, or awarded in any other competition.
d) Participants must not be older than 35 years of age (born in 1991 or later).
e) Only Turkish citizens may participate in the competition.
2) Orchestration Requirements
a) Works must be written for a double orchestra setting.
b) The piece shall be composed for an instrumental ensemble comprising instruments included in the double orchestra configuration.
c) Digital instruments and computer-generated sounds are strictly prohibited.
d) The duration of the composition must be no less than 5 minutes and no longer than 10 minutes.
3) Composer’s Commitment
The composer agrees that, in the event the awarded work is performed by any orchestra, all program notes and publications shall include the title of the composition, its purpose of composition, and the award it has received.
4) Orchestral Materials
The composer of the winning work must have the orchestral materials ready and available for performance.
5) Multiple Entries
Each candidate may submit more than one composition.
6) Submission Requirements
a) The full score submitted must not bear any name, signature, or identifying mark that could reveal the composer’s identity. Each work shall be assigned a five-character pseudonym (“code”), consisting of letters and/or numbers, chosen by the composer.
b) Composers submitting more than one work must use a different code for each submission.
c) The orchestral score and audio recording of the work shall be sent electronically to: adkder@gmail.com
d) The subject line of the email must read: “8th Composition Competition – [Code]”.
e) All entries must be received by 24:00 (midnight), Sunday, 13 September 2026 at the latest.
f) The winner of the competition shall submit a piano and violin reduction (in PDF format) of the awarded work to adkder@gmail.com no later than 20 September 2026, for use in the 3rd International Suna Kan Violin Competition.
g) All finalists of the Suna Kan Violin Competition will perform the winning composition with orchestra.
7) Application Fee
An application donation of ₺1,500.00 (One Thousand Five Hundred Turkish Lira) shall be deposited for each submitted work to the following account:

Only the code (pseudonym) of the composer shall be written in the “description” section of the bank receipt.
AWARD
Only one prize will be awarded. The Jury’s decision is final and irrevocable.
1) The composer of the winning work shall receive a monetary award of ₺50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Turkish Lira).
2) The winning composition will be performed on 21 October 2026 by the finalists of the 3rd International Suna Kan Violin Competition, accompanied by the Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra, at the Concert Hall of Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, Beytepe Campus, Ankara—or at another venue in Ankara as determined by the Association.
3) The concert and award ceremony will be held on the same evening.
Participation in the competition constitutes the composer’s acceptance of all conditions set forth herein.
Announcement of Results
1) The winner of the competition will be notified on 18 September 2026, and the results will be announced on the official website and social media accounts of the Ankara State Conservatory Alumni Association on the same day.
2) If the Jury determines that no work merits the First Prize, the award will not be granted.
3) The Board of Directors of the Ankara State Conservatory Alumni Association reserves the right to make amendments to certain provisions of this regulation if deemed necessary.
